Certified Dog Trainer and Behavior Specialist

Amber Cottle Canine Behavior Training Center
Delta, BC- April 2003 to Present.

Founder and chief trainer of full time professional dog training business. Services offered are private and group obedience instruction, puppy socializing classes, behavioral problem solving, recreational agility, and Intermediate obedience training. Class sessions taught per week are: four beginner obedience group classes, two group recreational agility classes, one group intermediate class, plus an average of 8-10 private clients. Total training hours to date exceed 12,000 hours of private and group instruction and behavioral problem solving.

Academy Training Instructor

International Academy of Canine Trainers
Delta, BC- December 2004 to Present

Founder, owner, and Chief Training Instructor for the International Academy of Canine Trainers which is registered with the Ministry of Education of British Columbia. Programs offered are for students wanting to become professional dog trainers or dog walkers and work within the Animal Care Workers Industry. Courses offered include basic obedience, assessing canine personalities, dog psychology, training psychology, reading dog body language, preventing behavioral problems, legal responsibilities and more. Once the courses are successfully completed, the student will be a certified dog trainer from the International Academy of Canine Trainers.

Founder and owner of Fido Freedom Dog Daycare and Mobile Dog Adventures offering dog walking and mobile dog daycare services. Amber is responsible for operating the business, training staff, as well as assessing dogs for acceptance into the program. Services include leashed walks, and small group adventures to our 3,500 square foot indoor/outdoor secure “dog park” and training facility.

Responsibilities included: Incorporating the Delta Humane Society as a non-profit organization, creating and implementing a business and animal care model, creating euthanasia and animal intake policies, writing procedures and protocols for animal handling, husbandry, and animal control, maintain contract for animal control and sheltering for the municipality of Delta, spokesperson for the society. Additional responsibilities included: creating and implementing and performing a canine aggression assessment program, and behavioral modification programs for dogs in need.

Canine Temperament Assessments and Rehabilitation

Delta Community Animal Shelter
Delta, BC- January 2007-present

Provide canine temperament assessments for dogs at the shelter. Assessment includes video footage and a written evaluation including behavior modification recommendations. Temperament evaluation is used to determine adoptability and potential placement.

Responsibilities included: creating and implementing and performing a canine aggression assessment program, and behavioral modification programs for dogs in need.

Regional Director, Dog Trainer

Elected as a Regional Director responsible for advising the BC SPCA on policies and procedures, as well as voting privileges for the BC SPCA board of directors. Other responsibilities included: attending monthly advisory meetings with the Community Advisory Committee, fundraising for the Delta and Richmond BC SPCA branches, as well as canine behavioral assessments and behavioral modification recommendations, and obedience training as needed.
